This weekend at the finals, there were many nationally ranked players there in each class, but none had better weekend than 2024 Dylan Warlick. The Oklahoma native scored 30 points in the championship game to go with 9 rebounds in their thrilling come from behind win over DOYA- HHBC.
Warlick's heroics in the finals were a portion of the pie as he was amazing all weekend. After looking at the stats for the weekend, Warlick scored in double figures in all six games and finished the weekend averaging over 23 points per contest. His #3 ranked Team Griffin fell in super pool play to #1 FreeBandz Elite and #9 Drive Nation before winning four straight on Sunday to hoist the crystal ball.
We have been following Dylan since he was a fourth grader playing for the Below the Rim program. At a younger age, Dylan was often the biggest guy on the court but always displayed great footwork and face up ability. Dylan is now good size at 6'4-6'5 but no longer a post player.
Last year we seen Warlick in Oklahoma City he was playing on the wing and had moments. This year those moments become consistent play as his transition away from the basket to being a hybrid wing has paid off. Warlick was getting in the paint this week showing great agility avoiding defenders for finishes. He is tough as nails on the defensive end and still has his back to the basket post game from his younger days but his quickness and agility makes him a matchup nightmare.
We can't wait to see Warlick progress even more as he continues on into his high school career. Team Griffin could be #1 when the final rankings are released, they will be in the conversation for certain.
