Every year that goes by, the last week of July seems to grow bigger and bigger for youth basketball stars in Las Vegas. With the fascination and following of the Big Baller Brand in Las Vegas this week, it is only certain to get bigger over the next few years. While in Vegas this weekend, a trio of Ohio cousins, Meechie Johnson (2021) Sonny Johnson (2022) and Marcus Johnson (2026) have did their part to see their names in the Vegas Lights.
Playing up in the 2020 division, the 2021 guard stole the show last night in front of NBA superstar James Harden. Meechie Johnson playing with the Ohio Basketball Club against James Harden's Team Harden in the Adidas Summer Championships.

Now with the game tied, the super star status of Meechie Johnson could have born nationally as he did this, giving his Ohio Basketball Club team an 84-81 win.
Across town at the Junior Fab 48, Meechie's cousin Marcus proved that he is one of the top 2026 kids in the nation if not the top when the new rankings are released later this fall. Marcus playing up in the 2025 division led his HardWork Basketball team to a 56-53 win over the previously undefeated CM Bulls to advance in to today's final four action. as a rising fourth grader playing fifth graders, Marcus dropped 41 points to go with 16 rebounds and 5 assists.
Sonny Johnson, 2022 guard, hasn't had the individual moment as the two cousins but he has been dominant in his own right playing up in the 2021 division. Sonny Johnson Jr. is averaging 20 points and 7 assists so far in the tournament as his team, Hardwork Basketball, is in the final four of the 2021 Diamond Division at the Fab 48. In the elite 8, Sonny netted 34 points and dished out 7 assists in front of coaches from THE Ohio State University.
